About the Role
Drivers operate heavy‑duty trucks equipped with front, side, or rear‑end lift attachments, transporting waste or recyclables to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities once legal load capacity is reached. Roles vary: commercial drivers pick up container loads often exceeding 1,000 lb, residential drivers collect household waste, and roll‑off drivers handle large open‑top containers, all requiring skilled backing maneuvers in congested environments. • Operate vehicle following WM Safety, OSHA, DOT regulations and all applicable laws. • Conduct pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections, completing DVIR documentation. • Report unsafe conditions, service issues, incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage to the Operations Manager or Dispatch immediately. • Attend all required training programs, briefings and meetings. • Collaborate with the Operations Manager to improve route efficiency and share best practices. • Notify management of service interruptions such as closed streets, heavy receptacles, or safety hazards. • Communicate customer requests promptly to Operations Manager or Dispatch. • Follow assigned routes, complete end‑of‑day paperwork and check‑out procedures. • Assist other drivers as needed to meet customer needs.
