Project Director - Wind

About the Role

You will be responsible for winning work and developing client relationships, leading delivery of major projects through the execution phase, and guiding multidisciplinary teams to deliver client excellence. Coordination with site‑based teams and contractors will be a key part of the role. In this position you will develop opportunities using your industry network, support business development initiatives and lead bids, and administer end‑to‑end project delivery from commencement to finalisation. You will build strong relationships with clients and internal teams, prepare project management plans, ensure technical compliance and governance, and drive continuous improvement. Financial performance, risk management, safety, scope, cost, quality and schedule accountability will be under your stewardship, while you mentor junior team members and promote a culture of safety, innovation and collaboration. • Lead delivery of large‑scale renewable energy projects (wind, solar, BESS, gas‑fired) across Australia. • Develop and maintain client relationships while winning new work. • Manage multidisciplinary teams through the execution phase, ensuring safety, quality, schedule and budget. • Coordinate with site‑based teams, contractors and subcontractors. • Mentor junior staff and foster a collaborative, innovative culture. • Create proposals, budgets, schedules and comprehensive project management plans. • Ensure technical compliance, governance, risk management and continuous improvement. • Commit to safety, sustainability and inclusive workplace practices.

What You Bring

We are looking for a Project Director to join GHD’s national Delivery Phase Services (DPS) business. Your industry knowledge, contacts and proven track record in overseeing large‑scale energy projects will help spearhead growth for our project delivery group. This role is based in Queensland with the flexibility to work from any GHD office. We require at least 15 years of experience delivering renewable projects, particularly wind, in Australia, as well as a background in engineering consulting. Strong industry connections, experience in proposals, budgets and schedules, high attention to detail, and a commitment to safety are essential. A bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related discipline is required, and construction or site experience is welcomed. • Bring 15+ years of project management experience in renewable energy, especially wind projects. • Leverage strong industry contacts and experience in engineering consulting. • Hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related discipline; construction or site experience is a plus.
