About the Role

Drivers operate heavy‑duty trucks equipped with front, side, or rear‑end lift attachments, transporting waste or recyclable containers that can exceed 1,000 lb. Commercial drivers handle pickup service on congested roadways and perform skilled backing maneuvers. Residential drivers collect household waste in residential settings, while roll‑off drivers load and move large open‑top or compactor containers on industrial routes. All driving activities must comply with WM Safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA, DOT, and applicable local, state, and federal laws. Drivers conduct pre‑ and post‑trip inspections, complete DVIR reports, and immediately report unsafe conditions, incidents, or service interruptions to the Operations Manager or Dispatch. They attend required training, work with management to improve route efficiency, and communicate customer requests. • Operate heavy‑duty trucks with lift attachments to transport waste or recyclables. • Perform pre‑ and post‑trip vehicle inspections and complete DVIR reports. • Follow WM safety, OSHA, DOT, and all applicable legal regulations while driving. • Report unsafe conditions, incidents, and service interruptions to management. • Communicate customer requests and route issues to Operations Manager or Dispatch. • Load, transport, and safely dump containers, leaving sites clean of debris. • Follow assigned routes and complete end‑of‑day documentation and checkout. • Assist fellow drivers as needed to meet customer service goals.

They must hold a valid CDL Class A or B with an air‑brake endorsement (or one year of equivalent military driving experience), be at least 18 years old, and be legally eligible to work in the United States or Canada. A high school diploma or GED is preferred. The role requires physical abilities such as standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, reaching, and handling equipment, as well as the capacity to sit, talk, and hear while performing duties in varied environments.
