What You Bring

Kimley‑Horn’s Reston, VA office is looking for a Civil Engineer with at least four years of experience to join its Transit team. This position is on‑site and not remote. The selected candidate will contribute to the production and delivery of transit design projects, focusing on Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) and Light Rail Transit (LRT) but not limited to these modes. Tasks may include corridor concept development, public outreach assistance, and transit evaluation. The role demands high‑level multidisciplinary coordination, and strong communication and organizational skills are essential. The ideal candidate holds a Professional Engineering (PE) license or can obtain one within 12 months, and brings at least four years of transit‑focused engineering experience. Experience should include transit corridor, track/guideway, roadway, and station design, including park‑and‑ride facilities. Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, excellent client communication, and strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills are required. The candidate must be an outgoing, self‑motivated team player with high attention to detail and the ability to balance multiple project priorities. • Hold a Professional Engineering (PE) license or obtain one within 12 months. • Possess at least four years of transit engineering experience, including corridor, guideway, roadway, and station design. • Demonstrate high proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and client interaction. • Exhibit strong organizational, detail‑oriented, and multi‑project management skills.
