About the Role

What You Bring

Kimley‑Horn’s Reston, VA office is hiring a Civil Engineer with at least four years of experience to join its Aviation team. The role is based on‑site and is not remote. Candidates must have four or more years of aviation engineering design experience and hold (or be able to obtain within 12 months) a Professional Engineering license. Required skills include familiarity with contract documents, cost estimating, FAA Advisory Circulars, pavement design, FAAR Field Design Software, and strong proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or MicroStation. Excellent communication, teamwork, mentorship abilities, and a proactive attitude toward meeting client deadlines are essential. • 4+ years of aviation engineering design experience • Professional Engineering (P.E.) license or ability to obtain within 12 months • Experience with contract document preparation and cost estimating • Knowledge of FAA Advisory Circulars and Engineering Briefs • Familiarity with pavement design and FAAR Field Design Software • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or MicroStation • Ability to work in a team and mentor junior staff • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills • High sense of urgency and self‑initiative to meet client deadlines
