About the Role

The Senior Highway Engineer will lead technical development of urban roadway designs, ensure quality on major interstate and state highway projects, and act as a recognized expert who resolves complex problems. The position also involves managing project tasks, interacting with clients, supervising a team of professionals and technicians, and handling additional duties as required. • Lead technical development of urban roadway design projects. • Perform quality assurance checks on major interstate and state highway transportation projects. • Serve as a technical expert with recognized authority to resolve complex problems. • Manage project tasks and interact with clients as needed. • Supervise a medium‑to‑large staff of professionals and technicians.

What You Bring

• Experience with MicroStation, InRoads, and Microsoft Office applications. • Prior involvement in CalTrans or local city projects (studies and design) preferred. • Hold a California Professional Engineer license. • Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering discipline (required). • Excellent oral and written communication skills. • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil 3D also preferred. • Minimum 10 years of experience in all aspects of roadway engineering design. • Demonstrated leadership, communication, and teamwork abilities. • Project management skills are desirable. • Experience with urban/rural highway interchanges, intersection design, traffic management, transportation planning, site planning, concept alignments, geometrical layout, and CAD base alignment plans. • Experience coordinating survey, grading, drainage, utilities, and site layout considered a plus.
