GFT is seeking a senior‑level Environmental Scientist to join our practice in Orlando, FL or Tallahassee, FL, working in a hybrid model with regular office attendance. GFT’s environmental professionals bring unparalleled expertise to tackle the most challenging environmental assignments, delivering innovative solutions for foundations, earth structures, groundwater resources, dams, underground construction, and building sites. We excel in designing transportation and building infrastructure while addressing landslides, sinkholes, mine subsidence, slope stability, and seepage issues. This role offers an experienced environmental scientist an opportunity to work in a collaborative, customer‑focused team delivering high‑quality results. The successful candidate will collect, analyze, and report biological and natural‑science data to support NEPA documents and permit applications, delineate wetlands, conduct protected species surveys, and assess potential contamination. They will also prepare permit applications, collaborate with engineering teams on transportation challenges, use ArcPro GIS for data collection and report preparation, and assist with public involvement activities. Candidates must hold at least a four‑year degree in biology, environmental science, or a related field and have five or more years of experience in natural‑environmental work such as resource permitting, Section 404 wetland surveys, protected‑species surveys, and NEPA documentation. Ability to travel throughout Florida with occasional overnight stays and strong public‑speaking skills for presentations are required. Knowledge of Florida’s ecological communities, excellent technical writing and verbal communication, and strong organizational abilities with a sense of urgency are essential. A solid work ethic, willingness to mentor junior staff, flexibility to serve as an in‑house consultant, proficiency in Microsoft Office, ArcPro/GIS, and GPS applications, and certifications such as Authorized Gopher Tortoise Agent, PWS, or GISP are preferred.

The salary range for this role is $95,000‑$130,000, depending on experience and location.
