About the Role
The Recycling Center Maintenance Technician is responsible for repairing and maintaining recycling equipment, heavy compactors, and light trucks to ensure safe and productive operations. The role involves routine maintenance of hydraulic systems, sorting screens, optical sorters, magnets, eddy currents, electrical systems, balers, conveyors, and compactors. The technician diagnoses mechanical issues using charts, diagnostic software, and technical manuals, performs repairs, replaces parts per work orders, and completes field service and consumables reports. Additional duties include preventive maintenance, troubleshooting complex electromechanical equipment, installing and setting up new equipment, and programming simple PLC instructions to improve plant performance. • Diagnose mechanical problems using charts, diagnostic software, and technical manuals. • Repair and maintain recycling equipment, heavy compactors, and light trucks, including hydraulic, electrical, and transmission systems. • Replace parts and complete work orders, field service reports, and daily consumables logs. • Perform preventive maintenance according to schedule and troubleshoot complex electromechanical equipment. • Install, set up, and commission new equipment and coordinate maintenance schedules with vendors. • Program simple PLC instructions to enhance plant monitoring and performance. • Follow all safety policies and procedures while performing duties.

What You Bring
Minimum qualifications include at least one year of building maintenance experience (including HVAC, odor and negative‑pressure systems) and three years working on equipment in a manufacturing or distribution setting. Candidates should have knowledge of Tier 4 emission systems, welding or fabrication skills, PLC programming ability, a valid driver’s license, and relevant mechanical, trade‑school or electronic‑diagnostics certifications. • At least 1 year of experience with building maintenance, HVAC, odor and negative‑pressure systems. • Minimum 3 years of equipment maintenance experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment. • Working knowledge of Tier 4 emission systems and welding/fabrication skills. • PLC programming experience and certification in electronic diagnostics or mechanical/trade school. • Valid driver’s license.
