About the Role

The role supports the growing water resources practice, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams on public and private projects. Engineers work on surface water management studies, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, flood studies, bridge hydraulics, and green infrastructure planning and design. They prepare hydraulic/hydrology studies, drainage reports, design documents, and specifications, and produce technical memoranda, feasibility studies, regulatory submittals, and master plans. They also develop scopes of work, budgets, watershed and stormwater master plans, and assist with CIP development. The position offers opportunities to build internal and external professional relationships and collaborate with industry leaders, jurisdictions, and contractors. • Support water resources practice with multidisciplinary team collaboration • Conduct surface water management studies, hydrologic/hydraulic modeling, flood and bridge hydraulics analyses • Prepare hydraulic/hydrology studies, drainage reports, design documents, and specifications • Produce technical memoranda, feasibility studies, regulatory submittals (CLOMR/LOMR), and master plans • Develop project scopes, budgets, watershed and stormwater master plans, and assist with CIP development • Build internal and external professional relationships and collaborate with jurisdictions and contractors

What You Bring

Kimley-Horn's Albuquerque office is seeking a Civil Engineer with 5+ years of experience to join their Surface Water team. This is not a remote position. Candidates must have 5+ years of relevant engineering design experience and a Professional Engineering (P.E.) license, or be able to obtain one within 12 months. Proficiency with AutoCAD, ArcGIS, HydroCAD, SWMM, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, StormCAD, and related hydrologic/hydraulic software is required. Strong written and oral communication skills, a positive self-motivated attitude, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines are essential. An entrepreneurial spirit with interest in leading practice, managing clients, and a team is desirable. • Minimum 5 years of engineering design experience and a PE license (or obtain within 12 months) • Proficient in AutoCAD, ArcGIS, HydroCAD, SWMM, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, StormCAD, and related software • Strong written and oral communication, positive self-motivated attitude, and ability to manage multiple priorities • Entrepreneurial mindset with desire to lead practice, manage clients, and a team
