About the Role

Within the Test Tools and Test Infrastructure team, the intern will contribute to the design, analysis, programming, and integration of software that supports Hitachi Rail’s train‑control systems. The role involves writing and debugging code, developing test procedures, and automating tests for critical applications. • Implement real‑time systems using C++, Python, or C with assembler. • Design, code, debug, and test software for train control applications. • Write and maintain automated test scripts and procedures. • Review code and test results, and resolve defect reports. • Support in‑house testing teams by analyzing and identifying issues. • Develop software components in C/C++ and Python, applying software architecture principles. • Utilize development tools such as Visual Studio, Linux, PowerShell, and Bash. • Create test‑automation tools leveraging C#, SQL Server, and cloud services (e.g., AWS) (preferred). • Work 40 hours per week in a hybrid model, with a minimum of two on‑site days. • Participate in mentorship (Buddy Program), onboarding curriculum, and networking events.

What You Bring

Candidates should be pursuing a bachelor’s (or master’s) degree in Computer/Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, with at least two years of study completed. Required technical skills include C/C++ and Python development, understanding of software architecture, and proficiency in English communication. Preferred experience encompasses Visual Studio, Linux environments, PowerShell/Bash scripting, C# and SQL Server, test‑automation tool development, cloud platforms such as AWS, and virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware). Exposure to TCL or Ruby is considered a plus.
