About the Role

The Operations Manager is responsible for onboarding, developing, coaching, mentoring, and performance management of all drivers and helpers. This role leads a team of 20‑30 drivers, oversees 61 routes, and spends most of the day in the field supporting frontline employees. It also acts as a business owner, focusing on cost management, compliance, and continuous improvement while collaborating with dispatch, logistics, and customer service. • Ensure new frontline employees receive tools, instruction, and daily feedback. • Conduct daily meetings with new hires to maintain consistent communication. • Provide timely touchpoints and review best practices to boost performance. • Support employee career‑goal development. • Identify improvement areas and coach employees for success. • Seek feedback on coaching conversations. • Model and teach safety practices and the “WM Way.” • Lead root‑cause investigations of injuries, enforce discipline, and schedule retraining. • Maintain regulatory records, e.g., DOT documentation. • Review and audit route operation documents (DVIRs, time‑cards, tickets) each day. • Visit customer sites to assess and resolve safety issues and explore service alternatives. • Complete the WM Operations Manager Trainee program.
