About the Role
KBR’s National Security Solutions team delivers high‑end engineering and advanced technology solutions to intelligence and national security customers. The Ground Systems Engineer role will directly support the customer’s acquisition office, contributing to critical national security missions. This position offers the chance to translate technical concepts into requirements that guide system development, CONOPs, and program baseline documentation. The acquisition office creates innovative technology demonstrations, prototypes, and new systems that address emerging defense intelligence needs. The successful candidate must quickly grasp technical concepts and turn them into actionable requirements that drive system development and operational transition. • Assess technical and programmatic development of ground systems, subsystems, units, and CONOPs. • Engineer system requirements, mission capability statements, and interface control documents (ICDs). • Generate technical requirements and support planning for demonstration phases and transition to operations. • Use Agile processes to help the customer define future needs and requirements. • Develop technical evaluation criteria and checklists for contractor demonstrations and milestone reviews toward acquisition approval. • Lead and coordinate technical engagements with multiple developers and the user community. • Facilitate demonstration execution and program office evaluations. • Support RFP/SOW creation and requirement development for major system acquisition contracts and readiness milestones. • Advise the Contracting Officer’s Technical Representative (COTR) on programmatic and contractual decisions, manage post‑award contracts, review CDRLs, and generate Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs). • Conduct system‑level trade studies.

What You Bring
The position is on‑site within the United States with less than 10 % travel. Standard working hours apply. Qualifications include an active TS/SCI with polygraph, a B.S. or higher in a STEM field, and at least six years of relevant technical experience. Candidates should have experience with system design trade studies, mission‑requirement analysis, Agile development, and acquisition source selection. Desired experience includes five or more years in ground‑systems acquisition or sustainment and familiarity with contract performance oversight. • Hold an active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph and a B.S. or higher in a STEM discipline. • Possess 6+ years of relevant technical experience, including system design trade studies and mission‑requirements analysis. • Experience supporting space‑vehicle IPTs or similar development programs, Agile development, and acquisition source selection. • Desired: 5+ years in ground‑systems acquisition or sustainment and knowledge of systems engineering, acquisition, and operations best practices. • Desired: Experience overseeing contract execution and technical performance.
