About the Role

In this role the engineer spends a larger portion of time training and mentoring lower‑level Field Service Engineers while still receiving detailed work instructions, acquiring new skills, and performing troubleshooting. The incumbent is a subject‑matter expert for the hookup process of specific tools and maintains relationships with customers, coworkers, and managers. Key duties include training and guiding other FSEs, collaborating with Technical Support and Yield Control Technology Engineers to solve problems, completing on‑the‑job training to achieve instrument certification, and protecting company inventory and equipment. The engineer must answer service calls promptly, keep accurate records, complete departmental and customer paperwork with high quality, achieve at least a 75% score on formal training tests, and uphold professional appearance and a positive attitude. • Train and mentor lower‑level Field Service Engineers. • Collaborate with Technical Support and Yield Control Technology Engineers to resolve issues. • Manage and protect company inventory, tools, and test equipment. • Respond promptly to service calls and maintain customer communication. • Document work performed, training received, and complete required paperwork. • Read schematics, blueprints, and perform calculations using test equipment. • Comply with all corporate safety policies, use PPE, and follow equipment‑specific safety protocols.

What You Bring

Candidates must hold a BS degree in Engineering or a related field (or an equivalent combination of education and experience) and possess a valid driver’s license in their resident state that is insurable by the company. The role also requires eligibility for a company credit card. Applicants need seven years of experience using digital volt meters, oscilloscopes, hand tools, and computers, with at least four years directly servicing Hitachi or comparable tools. Willingness to travel up to 50% (average 25%) and to relocate if necessary is required. Required skills include strong verbal and written communication, the ability to follow precise instructions, perform routine service calls, install and qualify systems, read schematics and blueprints, and apply knowledge of analog/digital circuitry, physics, and chemistry. Physical abilities such as lifting up to 50 lb, seeing small objects in confined spaces, and identifying color codes are also necessary. • Complete on‑the‑job training and achieve instrument certification. • Achieve a minimum of 75% on all formal training assessments. • Hold a BS degree in Engineering or equivalent experience and a valid driver’s license. • Minimum 7 years of experience with digital volt meters, oscilloscopes, hand tools, and computers; at least 4 years servicing Hitachi or similar instruments. • Travel up to 25% of the time (up to 50% possible) domestically and internationally. • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills at all organizational levels. • Knowledge of analog/digital circuitry, basic physics, and chemistry. • Physical requirements: lift up to 50 lb, see small objects, identify color‑codes, transport equipment. • Eligible for a company credit card and required to maintain professional appearance.
