About the Role

The manager will lead the programme controls function, ensuring accurate and consistent reporting on plans, cost, safety, environment and performance, and will allocate control‑team resources effectively. Controls processes must comply with the Guide to Railway Investment Projects (GRIP) and be maintained at territory/project level. The manager will review new project proposals, develop realistic resource plans, and coordinate with planning functions to resolve resourcing issues. Day‑to‑day support will be provided to Programme and Project Managers through reporting on plans, costs, safety, environment and performance. They will monitor data quality in cost and performance systems, produce the Investment Plan, and ensure compliance with the Investment Competence Framework. • Review new project proposals and develop realistic resource plans. • Identify and resolve resourcing requirements with planning functions. • Provide daily reporting on plans, costs, safety, environment, and performance to Programme and Project Managers. • Monitor data input into cost and performance systems to meet required standards. • Produce and manage the Investment Plan in line with the Investment Competence Framework. • Establish control processes compliant with GRIP and maintain them at territory/project level. • Perform, monitor, and review planning and scheduling, including schedule development, control, and analysis. • Operate Primavera P6 and Microsoft Office with intermediate knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and start‑up processes.

What You Bring

The role is for Project Controls Managers to work on major infrastructure projects and programmes in London and the South East. Candidates should have proven experience in sectors such as rail, aviation, power, water/utilities, highways or defence. Applicants need experience in planning and scheduling, including schedule development, control and analysis, both in the field and the office. Strong oral and written communication skills and proficient use of PC operating systems and standard software are required. Familiarity with Primavera P6, Microsoft Office, and an intermediate understanding of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction and start‑up processes is essential. • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. • Use PC operating systems and standard software proficiently. • Apply knowledge of engineering and construction management.
