About the Role
Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, the Utilityworker II will be responsible for the safe and efficient performance of general utility duties. This position is part of a flexible‑term labour pool and supports the Power Production team’s daily operations. Key duties include scaffolding erection and dismantling, non‑asbestos pipe insulation removal and installation, heavy labour, routine maintenance, operation of snow‑plowing equipment and mobile sweepers, cleaning plant equipment, preventative and repair maintenance, and environmental and vegetative control. The worker will also support other Utilityworkers, may be temporarily assigned to other locations, and is expected to travel throughout the province as needed.

What You Bring
Employees must complete training courses such as in‑house safety, environmental awareness, SAIA Systems Scaffold endorsement, and vehicle operation, and participate in on‑the‑job training to develop additional skills. They are accountable for personal and coworker safety by adhering to Occupational Health and Safety rules, demonstrating proactive safety practices, and complying with the Emera Alcohol and Drug Policy, which includes a confidential pre‑employment test. Required qualifications include a Grade XII education or equivalent with strong reading and writing skills, the ability to perform heavy labour and use common hand and power tools, and a self‑motivated attitude with the ability to work with minimal supervision. A valid Nova Scotia driver’s licence with at least two years of driving experience is required, and experience or certification in scaffolding erection or pipe insulation is considered an asset. Candidates must be able to work in confined spaces using appropriate PPE and meet the physical capabilities outlined for lifting, carrying, and moving various loads.
