CDL Truck Driver - Roll Off

About the Role

Drivers operate heavy‑duty trucks equipped with front, side, or rear‑end lift attachments, transporting waste or recyclable material to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities once legal load capacity is reached. Commercial drivers provide pick‑up service for containers that can weigh over 1,000 lbs, requiring precise backing maneuvers in high‑traffic roadways, driveways, alleys, and lots. Residential drivers collect household waste, while roll‑off drivers load and transport large open‑top or compactor containers, often navigating tight overhead environments. All vehicle operation follows WM Safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA, DOT, and applicable local, state, and federal laws. Drivers conduct pre‑ and post‑trip inspections, document checks with DVIRs, and immediately report unsafe conditions, incidents, or service interruptions to the Operations Manager or Dispatch. Participation in scheduled training, briefings, and meetings is required, and drivers work with management to improve route efficiency and best practices. • Operate heavy‑duty trucks with lift attachments to transport waste or recyclables. • Perform pre‑ and post‑trip vehicle inspections and complete DVIR reports. • Follow WM safety, OSHA, DOT, and all local, state, and federal regulations. • Report unsafe conditions, incidents, and service interruptions to management. • Attend required training, briefings, and meetings. • Collaborate with Operations Manager to optimize routes and best practices. • Deliver containers, dump waste, and leave sites clean and free of debris. • Maintain end‑of‑day documentation and check‑out procedures.

What You Bring

Drivers must hold a valid CDL Class A or Class B with an air‑brake endorsement (or have one year of equivalent military driving experience within the past seven years), be at least 18 years old, and be legally eligible to work in the United States. A high school diploma or GED is preferred. The role involves physical tasks such as standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, reaching, handling objects, sitting, talking, and hearing, with reasonable accommodations available for individuals with disabilities.
