About the Role

The Project Manager II will lead project execution from design through completion, manage proposals, contracts, financials, subcontractor selection, and team mentorship, serve as primary client contact, handle change orders, ensure compliance with safety, quality, and risk standards, promote an inclusive environment, and drive team collaboration and high performance. • Lead project execution from design through completion, ensuring alignment with scope, schedule, and budget • Prepare proposals, support pursuit presentations, and participate in contract negotiations • Develop and maintain accurate project financials, including projections, billing, and cost control • Allocate project estimates into financial systems and manage cost codes and invoicing • Oversee subcontractor and supplier selection, contract buyouts, and billing • Manage and mentor Assistant Project Managers and Project Engineers, including performance feedback and development • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and on-site representatives, resolving concerns and fostering long-term relationships • Manage change orders, ensuring timely submission and approval • Ensure compliance with Mortenson’s safety, quality, and risk management standards • Promote an inclusive work environment and uphold Mortenson’s values and ethical standards • Provide leadership that supports team collaboration, accountability, and high performance

What You Bring

Project Manager II – Mortenson seeks a seasoned leader to oversee construction projects, ensuring quality, safety, timeliness, and financial performance. The role requires proactive, adaptable leadership, mentorship, complex project management, and strong client relationships. Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in a related engineering or construction field, have at least seven years of large‑scale construction management experience, demonstrate success with complex stakeholder projects, possess strong financial acumen, be proficient with Microsoft Office and project management software, understand construction law and contracts, exhibit excellent communication and leadership skills, be able to travel up to 100% overnight, and hold a valid driver’s license. Mortenson is an equal opportunity employer and requires candidates to be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship. • Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, Electrical, or Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience • Minimum 7 years of construction management experience on large-scale projects ($20M+) • Demonstrated success managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders • Strong financial acumen and experience with project budgeting and forecasting • Proficient in Microsoft Office and project management software • Knowledge of construction law, business practices, and contract management • Excellent communication, leadership, and customer service skills • Ability to travel overnight up to 100% • Valid driver’s license

Benefits

Base pay ranges from $132,100 to $198,200, with higher ranges for certain locations, and the role is eligible for Mortenson’s incentive plan.
