About the Role
The position requires daily interaction with staff, contractors, and site personnel, attending project meetings, and reporting changing site conditions to supervisors. The assistant will help initiate project set‑up, ensure proper sample collection, preservation, and laboratory submission, and adhere to federal, state, and local environmental regulations. • Collaborate with staff on various projects and attend senior‑staff‑led meetings as needed. • Interface daily with contractors and site personnel, reporting changing site conditions to supervisors. • Schedule, train, and supervise environmental technicians. • Initiate and implement project set‑up and field investigations under senior supervision. • Collect, preserve, and submit samples following regulatory guidelines and maintain documentation of field observations. • Conduct boring and test‑pit layouts, evaluate site access, and assist with groundwater, soil, and media sampling. • Support remediation system installation, operation, maintenance, and underground storage tank assessments. • Prepare daily field reports and adapt investigations based on supervisor direction.

Engineering Consulting Services (ECS) is seeking a highly motivated Environmental Assistant Staff Project Manager. The role involves field tasks assigned by senior staff, with growth in responsibility over time. Work is primarily field‑based with limited office duties initially, and the ideal candidate demonstrates a positive customer‑service attitude and alignment with ECS core values. Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Civil/Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology, or a related field; no prior experience is required. They must possess basic knowledge of environmental principles, permitting processes, and test methods, be able to lift 40 lb repeatedly, and have a valid driver’s license when driving for ECS. Compensation is $22‑$28 per hour, adjusted for location and qualifications.
