About the Role

The Modeling‑Based Systems Engineer will support RETS and work independently or within a multi‑disciplined team. Responsibilities include impartial program assessments, policy reviews for Space Force acquisition, impact analysis of national and DoD directives, and development of integrated baselines that capture architecture, performance, cost and milestones. The role also analyzes system‑of‑systems requirements, identifies integration opportunities across space and non‑space domains, collaborates with external engineering groups, and provides technical and acquisition support for senior‑level decision forums and budget planning. • Provide impartial assessments of programs at key decision points and address contractor technical/operational issues. • Review and recommend Space Force acquisition policies and evaluate their implementation. • Analyze the impact of national, DoD, JCS, and civil policies on Space Force programs. • Develop and maintain integrated baselines covering architecture, performance, cost, and milestones. • Examine system‑of‑systems requirements, needs, and capabilities. • Identify integration opportunities across space, cyber, terrestrial, maritime, and air domains. • Collaborate with external systems engineering organizations and support senior‑leader decision forums. • Deliver planning, programming, and budgeting expertise to align program submissions with policy and architecture. • Support assessment of DoD budget submissions and advise on capability gaps and overlaps.

What You Bring

The position is on‑site with minimal travel (0‑20%) and follows standard working hours. Candidates must be able to work within KBR’s established safety and security protocols. Required qualifications include at least three years of mission or systems engineering experience supporting defense or military programs, proven expertise in model‑based engineering (DoDAF, SysML, UAF) and associated tools (Cameo, MagicDraw, Innoslate), and strong communication skills for presenting technical information. Candidates must hold an active Top‑Secret clearance with SCI eligibility and possess a bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or a related discipline. Desired experience encompasses familiarity with additional modeling suites such as IBM Rational Rhapsody or Sparx EA, relevant certifications (OCSMP, CSEP), and programming/scripting abilities in Python or MATLAB for automation. A master’s degree and experience with configuration control, database management, or nodal analysis in Cameo are also valued. • Minimum 3 years experience in mission/systems engineering or operational analysis for defense/military. • Experience developing operational and mission‑level architectures, kill chains, CONOPs, or SoS models. • Proficiency with model‑based engineering frameworks (DoDAF, SysML, UAF) and tools (Cameo, MagicDraw, Innoslate). • Strong verbal and written communication skills for technical presentations. • Understanding of system interface requirements and requirements management. • Active Top‑Secret clearance with SCI eligibility. • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field. • Familiarity with MagicDraw, IBM Rational Rhapsody, Sparx EA, or Cameo EA Suite (desired). • Relevant certifications such as OCSMP, CSEP, or other UAF/SysML credentials (desired). • Programming/scripting knowledge in Python, MATLAB for automation (desired). • Master’s degree and experience with configuration control, database management, or nodal analysis in Cameo (desired).
