About the Role
The operator is tasked with ensuring efficient production, maintaining product quality, and supporting overall team efficiency. They must follow detailed procedures, keep accurate records, and cooperate with supervisors and co‑workers while adhering to OSHA safety standards. • Set up and operate the Abbey Mill for efficient production. • Address tubing quality issues and apply corrective actions. • Generate and affix tags to all manufactured bundles. • Complete and submit daily production records and timesheets. • Turn in end‑welder micrometer readings with production paperwork. • Perform safe, timely changeovers. • Verify setups using micrometers, pi tape, level and tape measures. • Maintain a clean and organized work area daily. • Submit detailed work orders for equipment issues promptly. • Cross‑train teammates and remain open to cross‑training. • Attend scheduled safety meetings and enforce safety policies. • Follow OSHA guidelines, including Lockout/Tagout procedures and safety device checks. • Read and interpret micrometers, pi tape, levels and other hand tools. • Operate overhead cranes and ground‑operated equipment. • Maintain and document quality records. • Work around moving mechanical parts.

The Abbey Mill Operator plays a key role in setting up and running the Abbey steel tube mill to produce high‑quality steel tubing. The position works the third shift from 7:00 PM to 5:30 AM and offers a wage of $23.50 to $25.63 per hour plus a production incentive bonus. Success in this role requires strong mechanical aptitude, clear communication, and a daily focus on safety. Ideal candidates can read micrometers, pi tape, levels and other hand tools, operate overhead cranes, and possess basic computer and math skills. They are self‑motivated problem solvers with strong verbal and written communication, a safety‑first mindset, and the ability to work overtime in a noisy, dusty warehouse environment while wearing required PPE. • Demonstrate teamwork and cooperate with colleagues and supervisors. • Use basic computer and mathematical skills. • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing. • Exhibit self‑motivation and problem‑solving mindset. • Show strong mechanical comprehension and safety orientation. • Wear required PPE and use tools/equipment safely. • Tolerate dusty and noisy conditions within OSHA limits.
