About the Role

In this position, you will coordinate, instruct, and manage both classroom and field components of the Mortenson Registered Apprenticeship Program, acting as the subject-matter expert for curriculum delivery. You will also oversee training calendars, resources, and relationships with project teams and instructors. • Deliver crane, rigging, and ironworking NCCER modules, assessments and performance profiles. • Partner with project leadership and project-based instructors to schedule classroom instruction, online assessments and field evaluations. • Ensure tools, books and other necessary resources are available for all training sessions. • Manage, mentor and audit project-based instructors, performance evaluators and proctors. • Manage master training calendar for the Operating Group. • Collaborate with project team to create project training plans, including schedules and selection of electrical apprentices. • Partner with Apprenticeship Program Manager and HR Coordinator on completion, tracking and storage of required electrical program documentation. • Assist with the administration of new apprentice registration documents as needed. • Actively participate in electrical subject matter review committees with NCCER and other organizations. • Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels.

What You Bring

Mortenson is currently seeking an experienced Ironworker Lead Trainer to join a dynamic team that impacts the entire organization. The role requires extensive travel—approximately 75% across the United States—and serves as a key liaison between the Apprenticeship Program and operating group leadership. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role; candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship. Mortenson’s postings typically remain open for a minimum of five days, with an average duration of 44 days, and the company reserves the right to hire without legal or financial obligation for unsolicited solicitations. • Utilize effective presentation skills, including creative training techniques and adult learning techniques. • Four or more years of journey or technician-level knowledge and skills in ironworking or a similar trade. • Successful completion of NCCER ICTP preferred. • Exposure to OSHA training requirements. • Exposure to NCCER curriculum preferred. • Classroom training facilitation experience preferred. • Advanced communication, presentation and classroom training facilitation skills. • Knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional methodology. • Basic computer and software skills (Microsoft applications). • Bilingual English/Spanish fluency preferred. • Ability to connect with and influence apprentices and other stakeholders. • Active listening skills and effective communication, including openness to diverse input and feedback. • Current driver's license. • Ability to travel up to 75%.
