About the Role

Core duties include interpreting specifications and blueprints, identifying required tools, fabricating and installing steel and pipe work, and safely rigging and hoisting equipment using cranes and appropriate rigging practices. • Remove, replace, and repair piping systems and coal‑fired boiler components (soot blowers, burners, dampers). • Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment in a coal‑fired power plant, including pump dismantling and reassembly. • Read specifications and blueprints to determine material quantities, sizes, and installation methods. • Identify, select, and properly use all required tools and specialty equipment (torque wrenches, plasma cutters, rigs, JLG lifts). • Perform steel and pipe fabrication, including cutting, welding, and assembling per drawings and cut sheets. • Hoist and rig equipment safely using rigging practices, slings, and cranes. • Follow safety protocols, assess risks, and stop work when hazards are identified. • Apply proper pipe connection, bolt‑up, and valve installation procedures. • Conduct basic maintenance inspections and signal equipment safely (ETS, NCCO, NCCER). • Perform mathematical calculations for measurements and material estimations. • Meet physical requirements, work at heights and confined spaces, and maintain reliable transportation.

What You Bring

The Boilermaker role involves maintenance of piping and coal‑fired boiler components, including soot blowers, burners, and dampers, with experience in flue‑gas desulfurization equipment and the ability to dismantle and reassemble pumps. Candidates must have at least six years of relevant experience, NCCER Industrial Boilermaker certification, and must meet physical requirements such as working at heights, in confined spaces, and on a rotating schedule that includes nights and weekends. The position requires strong leadership and safety awareness, proficiency with rigging, welding, cutting, torque application, and basic math for measurements, as well as familiarity with specialty tools and equipment such as JLG man‑baskets, forklifts, and various cutting devices. Additional requirements include a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and adherence to Zachry’s drug‑free, safe‑workplace and equal‑opportunity employment policies. • Hold NCCER Industrial Boilermaker certification and a valid driver’s license. • Work rotating schedule including nights and weekends; be self‑motivated and willing to take additional duties.
