About the Role

The role works directly with senior management to develop regulatory case filings and strategies that support the company’s strategic goals, focusing on distribution system planning, grid modernization, transportation electrification, and other policy matters. The incumbent will consult with subject‑matter experts across the organization to ensure filings align with company objectives and will coordinate with regulatory case management teams to maintain consistency. Key responsibilities include developing, compiling, and editing large, complex regulatory filings; providing clear written explanations of complex issues; ensuring documents are concise, well‑organized, and follow standardized style guidelines; and advocating the company’s positions in regulatory proceedings, rulemakings, and legislative hearings. The role also involves communicating regularly with senior management and internal customers, supporting multiple projects under tight deadlines, drafting discovery responses, and creating presentations and key messages for both external agencies and internal audiences. • Develop, compile, and edit regulatory case filings and strategy documents. • Provide clear written explanations of complex regulatory issues. • Ensure filings are concise, well‑organized, and adhere to standardized style and formatting conventions. • Advocate Xcel Energy’s positions with regulators, legislators, and stakeholders in proceedings and hearings. • Communicate regularly with senior management and internal customers about case status and regulatory impacts. • Support multiple projects simultaneously while delivering high‑quality work under tight deadlines. • Draft and evaluate discovery responses for effectiveness and contextual relevance. • Create key messages and presentations for external agencies and internal audiences. • Assist witnesses in preparing pre‑filed testimony. • Partner across business areas and teams to achieve regulatory objectives.

What You Bring

Minimum qualifications are a BA/BS degree and five to seven years of equivalent experience in the regulatory field, including direct experience with regulatory filings. Candidates must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, be willing to travel occasionally overnight, and be prepared for extensive overtime as needed. • Minimum qualifications: BA/BS degree and 5–7 years of regulatory experience, including direct filing work. • Required proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; occasional overnight travel and extensive overtime may be required.
