About the Role

AECOM is seeking a highly motivated Communications Intern for its Transportation Group to support 511 Georgia, the state’s official traveler information system. The intern will work on‑site within GDOT’s Statewide Transportation Management Center, collaborating with agency partners and gaining behind‑the‑scenes experience in government communications that impact millions of motorists. The internship offers immersive, hands‑on experience with cutting‑edge technology and industry best practices. Interns develop technical and professional skills, network with seasoned professionals, and contribute to innovative, sustainable projects that shape communities and the built environment. • Immersive experience inside a state agency operations center • Real‑world social media management for a statewide brand • Blend of writing, digital media, public engagement, and crisis communications • Pursuing a Bachelor’s (or Master’s) degree in Communications, Digital Media, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field with at least one year completed • Excellent oral and written communication skills • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) • Strong interpersonal skills, collaborative mindset, and attention to detail • Self‑starter able to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite or AI content tools; photography/video production a plus
