Eaton
A global leader in power management, providing energy-efficient solutions for various industries.
Mechanical Engineer - Entry Level
Design mechanical systems for power electronics and energy storage products.
Job Highlights
About the Role
The Mechanical Engineer will work with cross‑functional engineering teams to define requirements and create mechanical systems, taking into account space, manufacturing, service, thermal and other design considerations. They will provide technical guidance to project team members and collaborate with sales, marketing, and global product development to solve customer power‑quality problems. Additionally, they will develop first‑run products and support manufacturing personnel throughout the launch process. Leveraging in‑depth knowledge of sheet‑metal, plastics and other manufacturing methods, the engineer will design and lay out systems while balancing cost, manufacturability, testing requirements and serviceability. They will participate in project reviews of requirements, system architecture and detailed design documents, and work closely with regulatory experts to ensure compliance with UL and other certification bodies. Opportunities for process and design improvements will be identified and presented to the design team. • Define requirements and design mechanical systems considering space, manufacturing, thermal, and service constraints. • Provide technical guidance to project team members and collaborate with sales, marketing, and product development to address customer power‑quality issues. • Develop first‑run products and support manufacturing personnel during product launch. • Apply sheet‑metal, plastics, and other manufacturing expertise to create cost‑effective, manufacturable, testable, and serviceable designs. • Participate in project reviews of system architecture and detailed design documentation. • Work with regulatory experts to ensure designs meet UL and other certification requirements. • Identify and propose process and design improvement opportunities.

What You Bring
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution and have at least six months of mechanical engineering experience, including internships. Experience is required in developing large‑scale power electronics from concept to manufacturing launch, power distribution system design and protection, and working with multi‑kW lithium‑ion energy storage systems for outdoor or non‑climate‑controlled environments. In‑depth knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) techniques is also essential. Success in this role is measured by strong problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities, a drive for results, continuous learning, and the capacity to mentor less‑experienced engineers. Effective communication—including clear verbal, written, and interpersonal skills—is required to convey technical concepts to internal staff, peers and stakeholders. • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. • Have a minimum of six months of mechanical engineering experience, including internships. • Experience developing large‑scale power electronics from concept through manufacturing launch. • Knowledge of power distribution design, protection, and multi‑kW lithium‑ion energy storage systems. • Proficiency in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) techniques. • Demonstrated problem‑solving, decision‑making, and results‑driven mindset. • Ability to mentor less‑experienced engineers and communicate technical concepts effectively.
