About the Role

The Designated Driver Trainer (DDT) is a dual‑role position that operates a waste‑management vehicle on an assigned route while also serving as a trainer for new and existing drivers. The role ensures safe, efficient service and provides mentorship to develop driver skills and compliance with company and regulatory standards. In addition to standard driver duties such as pre‑ and post‑trip inspections and timely waste collection, the DDT conducts on‑the‑job training, observes driver performance, gives immediate feedback, and records progress. The trainer also collaborates with route and onboarding managers to report performance data and recommend additional coaching. • Operate assigned WM vehicle safely, performing all standard driver responsibilities and compliance checks. • Deliver on‑the‑job training, coaching, and defensive‑driving instruction for new hires and drivers needing performance improvement. • Observe driver performance, provide immediate constructive feedback, and maintain accurate training records. • Report driver progress and performance metrics to Route Manager and Onboarding Optimization Manager. • Mentor drivers during role transitions, reinforcing WM safety standards and company values.

What You Bring

Candidates must hold a Class A or B CDL with air‑brake endorsement, have a high school diploma or GED, and possess at least two years of experience operating a WM vehicle. Preference is given to applicants with recent military driving experience or prior supervisory, training, or coaching roles. The position requires physical activities such as standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, reaching, and handling equipment, and it may be performed indoors or outdoors in varying weather conditions. Reasonable accommodations are available for qualified individuals with disabilities. • Required: High School or GED, Class A/B CDL with air‑brake endorsement, and 2 years of WM vehicle operation experience. • Preferred: 2 years recent military driving experience and 2 years supervising, training, or coaching personnel. • Physical tasks include standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, reaching, handling, sitting, talking, and hearing.
