Power Systems Application Engineer – Energy Market Data Management

About the Role

Design, develop, test, integrate and document Data Management applications for electricity markets and related customer projects while following best engineering practices. Support software releases, troubleshoot defects, and provide expert knowledge to onsite teams. Research and advance data management skills for market operation, power system analysis, real‑time control, and improve development practices and documentation. Represent the company in internal and external discussions, customer meetings, and industry gatherings. Travel occasionally to support customers worldwide and uphold Hitachi Energy’s core values of safety and integrity. • Analyze customer engineering, business, and software requirements to propose feasible solutions. • Estimate effort, identify risks, and define implementation approaches for Data Management applications. • Design, develop, test, integrate, and document data management software for electricity markets. • Support software releases, troubleshoot defects, and provide expert assistance to onsite teams. • Research and enhance data management skills for market operation, power system analysis, and real‑time control. • Represent Hitachi Energy in internal stakeholder meetings, customer engagements, and industry events. • Travel briefly to worldwide customer sites as needed.

What You Bring

Applicants should hold a Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related field with at least two years of experience in software development or data engineering for electricity markets. Experience must include designing, gathering, importing, wrangling, querying, analyzing and presenting market data, as well as programming in high‑performance languages such as FORTRAN, C/C++, or Python, and relational database operation on Linux. One year of multi‑threading, high‑performance, memory‑intensive analytical application experience is desirable, along with strong English communication skills. • Hold a Master’s/PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field with ≥2 years of relevant experience. • Proficient in high‑performance programming languages (FORTRAN, C/C++, Python) and relational databases on Linux. • Experience with multi‑threaded, memory‑intensive analytical applications is desirable. • Strong written and oral English communication skills.
