About the Role
In this role you will define topologies and single‑line diagrams for FACTS solutions based on customer requirements. You will specify main circuit components such as power transformers, power‑electronics valves, reactors, capacitors, CTs, VTs and breakers according to specifications and international standards. You will coordinate with suppliers to achieve optimal component designs, evaluate their design and test records, and conduct design studies including harmonic performance, protection, insulation coordination, loss and reliability analyses. You will collaborate with other disciplines, participate in customer discussions, and support project‑, product‑ and application‑management teams in acquisition and consultation. You will ensure compliance with all applicable internal and external regulations while embodying Hitachi Energy’s core values of safety and integrity. • Define FACTS solution topologies and single‑line diagrams. • Specify power system components (transformers, valves, reactors, capacitors, CT/VT, breakers) per standards. • Coordinate with suppliers to optimise component designs and review design/test documentation. • Conduct design studies: harmonic performance, protection, insulation coordination, loss and reliability analyses. • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and communicate project requirements. • Participate in customer meetings and assist project, product and application management in acquisition. • Ensure adherence to internal and external regulations, safety, and integrity standards.

What You Bring
The ideal candidate holds a Master’s degree in Power Systems and has 5‑8 years of relevant experience. Experience in substation design, protection, insulation coordination, lightning studies, and specification of power‑system components with vendor documentation is required. Strong knowledge of power‑system steady‑state, dynamic and transient behavior, as well as international standards (IEEE, IEC, GIGRE), is essential. Proficiency in PSCAD, MATLAB and familiarity with power‑electronic‑based plants such as solar or wind is an advantage. The role demands a detail‑oriented team player with excellent communication skills, problem‑solving ability, and fluency in spoken and written English. • Hold a Master’s degree in Power Systems with 5‑8 years of relevant experience. • Demonstrated experience in substation design, protection, insulation coordination and lightning studies. • Proficient in specifying components, evaluating vendor documents, and using PSCAD and MATLAB. • Knowledge of IEEE, IEC, GIGRE standards for power system design. • Ability to work in fast‑paced, multi‑cultural environments with strong attention to detail. • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
