About the Role
In this role the lineman performs safe construction and repair of both energized and de‑energized overhead work, leads crew members when the foreman is absent, and installs a wide range of equipment such as transformers, lightning arrestors, and switchgear. Additional duties include troubleshooting primary and secondary systems, clearing faulted circuits, and adhering to strict safety and grounding procedures while working at heights and in confined spaces. • Perform safe new construction, maintenance, and repair of energized and de‑energized overhead work. • Lead crew members in the foreman's absence. • String overhead wire. • Set poles and anchors. • Install transformers, lightning arrestors, cutouts, crossarms, insulators, switches, and switchgear. • Troubleshoot primary and secondary electrical systems. • Replace cutout fuses and clear faulted circuits. • Work with energized high‑voltage systems while protecting lives. • Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and tools. • Identify primary and secondary voltage on circuits. • Install and remove personal protective equipment correctly. • Climb various structures (wood, steel) using appropriate tools. • Phase out lines using phasing sticks. • Plan safe work based on job prints or work orders. • Conduct pre‑job or tailgate briefings effectively. • Perform reconductoring jobs safely. • Install and remove mechanical jumpers safely. • Use a load‑bust tool. • Travel long distances on short notice when required. • Work extended periods in various locations as needed. • Inspect rubber goods and PPE properly. • Follow all company safety rules and policies.

What You Bring
The Class A Lineman is a skilled position responsible for the construction, maintenance, and repair of electrical overhead distribution systems. The role may require travel to various locations, including out‑of‑state sites, to meet customer demands. Candidates must have a minimum of five years recent field experience, be able to read and communicate effectively in English, and obtain a Commercial Driver’s License permit within 60 days of hire (CDL preferred). The position also requires the ability to travel long distances on short notice, lift over 50 lb, inspect PPE, and work overtime, weekends, or holidays as needed. The job demands regular physical activity, including standing, walking, climbing, and handling tools, often in inclement weather and noisy, high‑vibration environments. Employees are frequently exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and extreme outdoor conditions while performing their duties. • Apply knowledge of induced voltage and grounding procedures. • Work safely at heights and in confined spaces. • Glove and work live high‑voltage distribution lines. • Work outdoors, often in inclement weather. • Maintain at least five years of recent field experience. • Read and communicate effectively in English. • Obtain a Commercial Driver’s License permit within 60 days of employment. • Lift more than 50 lb safely. • Demonstrate self‑motivation, teamwork, and customer focus.
