About the Role

Key responsibilities include following safety procedures in school and on the shop floor, performing scheduled and predictive maintenance, installing and testing equipment, analyzing technical specifications, supporting PLC work with automation engineers, and communicating effectively within the team. • Follow safety processes in classroom and on the shop floor while job‑shadowing. • Perform scheduled, predictive and preventive maintenance on mechatronic equipment. • Install, repair, adjust and test electronic and mechanical components. • Analyze technical specifications of systems, subsystems, modules and components. • Learn PLC programming and support automation engineers in the lab. • Enroll in and complete a 12‑week college training at a designated partner institution. • Complete one year of on‑the‑job learning as an apprentice after training. • Maintain flexibility for varying schedules, shifts and work areas. • Work in a warehouse environment with fluctuating temperatures and occasional computer use.

What You Bring

The apprentice will learn to install, alter, troubleshoot, repair and maintain electronic, mechanical, computer and control systems in a complex fulfillment/distribution center through a blend of classroom, laboratory and on‑the‑job learning. After completing a 12‑week college program at one of four partner schools, the apprentice will spend a year of on‑the‑job learning and then be promoted to Mechatronics & Robotics Technician. Basic qualifications are a high‑school diploma or equivalent, age 18+, a passing mechanical aptitude test, ability to attend the 12‑week college training and complete a year of on‑the‑job learning, proficiency with Microsoft Office, and flexibility for schedules and shifts. Preferred qualifications include prior experience in electrical, mechanical or controls fields. Physical demands involve reaching overhead, kneeling, squatting, climbing, lifting up to 50 lb, wearing required PPE and working in a warehouse with varying temperatures. • Communicate effectively within team environments during school and on‑the‑job learning. • Hold a high‑school diploma or equivalent and be at least 18 years old. • Achieve the required score on a Mechanical Aptitude Test. • Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project. • Preferred: prior experience in electrical, mechanical or controls fields. • Physical ability to reach overhead, kneel, squat, climb ladders, lift up to 50 lb and walk 6–12 mi daily. • Ability to wear required PPE such as hard hat, face shield and composite‑toe shoes.
