What You Bring
Reporting to the Mechanical Trades Supervisor, the Maintenance Person Certified (Shift) – Millwright/Welder will perform routine mechanical maintenance and repairs on equipment throughout the thermal generating station, work in a planned environment, and follow shift schedules based on the plant’s daily and seasonal reliability needs. The role also includes participation in regulatory and on‑the‑job training, occasional assignments to other locations, provincial travel, and strict adherence to safety, health, and environmental policies, including a pre‑employment alcohol and drug test. Candidates must hold Journeyperson certification as a Millwright or High‑Pressure Welder (GTAW/SMAW/TIG/MIG) with a minimum of three years of modern mechanical maintenance experience in a generating station or similar process industry. Required competencies include strong problem‑resolution skills, flexibility, teamwork, excellent interpersonal abilities, solid computer aptitude, and the physical capability to work at considerable heights. Additional certifications such as machinist, welder, or pipefitter are considered assets. The position demands significant physical effort: lifting 40‑50 lb from floor to overhead, carrying 40 lb with one or both hands, pushing or pulling up to 100 lb, occasional static reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, walking, climbing stairs or ladders, minimal crawling, and frequent neck flexion and rotation. • Hold Journeyperson certification as Millwright or High‑Pressure Welder (GTAW/SMAW/TIG/MIG) with at least three years of relevant experience. • Demonstrate strong problem‑resolution ability, flexibility, and teamwork. • Possess solid computer aptitude and ability to manage multiple tasks. • Meet physical demands, including lifting up to 100 lb and working at heights. • Additional certifications (machinist, welder, pipefitter) are advantageous.
