About the Role

The Assistant Project Manager will handle cost control, financial management, and work with preconstruction on estimates and schedules. Responsibilities include coordinating scopes of work, managing pay applications, change requests, contracts, subcontracts, and providing direction for safe, timely project completion. The individual will also act as a liaison, mentor, and leader for engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers. • Perform cost control and financial management • Work with preconstruction on project estimate and schedule • Coordinate scopes of work • Review and compile pay applications, change requests, and other project financial documentation • Partner with the Project Manager or Construction Executive • Draft client proposals • Administer and manage contracts • Provide direction to the project team for safe and timely project completion • Act as liaison for project engineers, mentor, and coach others • Provide job assignments and lead career development • Guide field engineers and project engineers • Lead subcontractors and suppliers for the project • Supervise budget and make recommendations for subcontractors and trade partners • Lead project buyout with subcontractors and trade partners • Facilitate and lead meetings between subcontractors for project coordination

Mortenson is seeking an experienced Assistant Project Manager to partner with the Project Manager from bid preparation through final client acceptance. The role includes leading, coaching, and mentoring project team members while communicating with staff at all levels in a dynamic environment. Success requires flexibility, inventiveness, dedication, efficiency, integrity, and confidentiality. Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in a construction‑related field or have equivalent experience, and possess at least six years of relevant experience. Required skills include detail orientation, basic knowledge of construction law, professional attitude, strong customer service, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to travel 100%. • Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience • Minimum six years of related experience • Ability to assist with complex project responsibilities • Detail‑oriented to organize and lead multiple tasks • Basic understanding of construction law and business practices • Positive, professional attitude and strong customer service skills • Current driver’s license • Ability to travel 100%
