About the Role
This role is a maintenance position (no per diem) for an Industrial Pipe Fitter. The fitter assembles, layouts, installs, and maintains pipe systems for steam, fluid, or gas, working in various environments including buildings, outdoors, tanks, boilers, excavations, and heights up to 300 ft. The position reports to a supervisor, has no direct reports but may oversee helpers and laborers as needed, and must adhere to Zachry’s safety values and regulations. • Read blueprints and specifications to determine material locations, quantities, and sizes. • Identify required tools and safety precautions for each task. • Prepare, fabricate, install, and fit pipe to specifications. • Install valves, hangars, supports, and flanges according to plans. • Perform tests to verify pipe and system quality. • Hoist loads using slings, chains, shackles, hooks, cables, and rigging equipment. • Maintain a complete set of hand tools including a locked metal toolbox, magnetic level, tape measures, framing square, assorted wrenches, pipefitter’s blue book, channel locks, torch lighter, chalk line, Allen wrench set, line‑up bar, screwdrivers, tip cleaners, gloves, safety goggles, and other standard pipe‑fitting tools.

What You Bring
Successful candidates must have at least four years of experience as an industrial pipe fitter or helper, be able to read and interpret blueprints and technical manuals, and possess strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills. Experience on industrial construction projects, especially combined‑cycle power plants, is required. The job demands extensive physical activity, including standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 50 lb, and occasional work at heights up to 300 ft with fall protection, while wearing required PPE such as hard hat, safety glasses, and steel‑toe boots. • Minimum 4 years experience as an industrial pipe fitter or helper. • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, technical and manufacturer manuals. • Knowledge of pipe‑fitting processes for industrial piping and boiler components in a combined‑cycle power plant. • Strong problem‑solving ability, manual dexterity, and reading comprehension. • Effective team player and independent worker with minimal supervision. • Good communication skills with co‑workers and supervisors. • Preferred: former or current Zachry employee (ROF’ed). • Preferred: NCCER certification as Industrial Pipe Fitter. • Preferred: formal technical education.
