About the Role
The Sr. Staff Accountant ensures the accuracy of accounting functions that span audit, financial reporting, business plan submissions, and payroll. This role is central to maintaining cost control, schedule adherence, and the delivery of zero‑defect homes. It supports both regional and corporate financial objectives while upholding internal controls and compliance standards. • Prepare and distribute weekly and monthly division reports to regional and corporate leadership. • Serve as primary backup to the Land Controller for land accounts payable, including receipt matching and P‑Card invoice coding. • Manage vendor insurance maintenance and compliance. • Assist in yearly and quarterly P&L projections for the business plan. • Maintain schedule of leased trailers and office equipment on‑ and off‑site. • Analyze monthly P&L, identify discrepancies and escalate issues. • Review bills from region and corporate, and facilitate monthly financial ops meetings to scrub budget variances for closing homes. • Oversee division payroll process, ensuring accurate submissions and proper record retention for audits, including expense reports, commissions, advances, and bonuses. • Support internal and external audit requests, ensuring timely and accurate responses. • Ensure compliance with internal controls, SOX, and regional/corporate policies. • Contribute to month‑end close activities, meeting corporate deadlines. • Complete SOP and price change requests as directed by the Division Controller. • Prepare quarterly balance‑sheet package submissions. • Act as backup to Assistant Controller for projects such as quarterly warranty spending review, new community setup in JDE, and legal bill processing. • Monitor and ensure collection of energy and miscellaneous rebates.

What You Bring
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field; graduate degree or CPA preferred. • Minimum three years of general accounting experience, including P&L management. • Homebuilding industry experience preferred. • Strong Microsoft Excel skills. • Experience with JD Edwards; familiarity with Hyperion/Essbase is a plus.
