About the Role
As an Airport Duty Manager, you will be the primary point of contact for information and direction regarding safety, security, emergencies, compliance, construction, airline, passenger, tenants, and the surrounding public. You will ensure safety, security, and continuity in airport operations, inspect terminal areas for deficiencies, cleanliness, and safe movement, and monitor security checkpoints and international arrivals for passenger efficiency. You will also inspect the airfield and bagwell area for discrepancies and safety issues, enforce Port of Seattle rules by issuing citations and educating offenders, and keep senior management informed of conditions affecting normal operations. You will respond to all airport emergencies, act as the primary representative in the Airport Emergency Plan and NIMS, participate on the Operations snow team and be on‑call during emergencies, and lead or support special projects and program committees such as weather, safety, queue management, budget, emergency management, and environmental coordination. In the absence of direct supervisors, you will lead, direct, and support employees during shifts, making high‑level decisions. The role requires at least three years of aviation or safety management experience, the ability to obtain a Washington State Concealed Pistol License within 60 days, and completion of the AAAE Certified Member program within two years; desired candidates have five years of airport management experience and AAAE or Accredited Airport Executive credentials. Additional expectations include applying equity principles, evaluating risk and providing clear direction, ensuring compliance with FAR 139, CFR Part 77, and TSA Part 1542, demonstrating excellent written and oral communication with diverse populations, and exercising sound judgment under stress. • Serve as primary contact for safety, security, emergencies, compliance, construction, airline, passenger, tenant, and public matters. • Inspect terminal, airfield, and baggage areas for deficiencies and safety issues; correct conditions as needed. • Enforce Port of Seattle rules, issue citations, and educate violators. • Report operational impacts to senior management and support emergency response per AEP and NIMS. • Participate in the Operations snow team and be on‑call for airport emergencies. • Lead or contribute to projects/committees on weather, safety, queue management, budget, emergency management, and environmental coordination. • Supervise shift staff and make high‑level decisions when supervisors are absent. • Apply equity principles and model shared Port values daily. • Evaluate risk, make sound decisions, and provide clear direction. • Ensure compliance with FAR 139, CFR Part 77, and TSA Part 1542 regulations.

What You Bring
