About the Role
The Technician position is located at our Williamsburg, VA facility. The primary responsibility is to implement and maintain workplace organization using the 5S methodology (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain). This role ensures work areas remain clean, organized, and optimized for efficiency, safety, and productivity while collaborating with operations, maintenance, and quality teams on continuous improvement. Key duties include applying 5S standards, conducting regular audits, developing visual management tools, and coaching staff on best practices. The technician also identifies waste reduction opportunities, prepares performance reports for management, and ensures compliance with safety and quality standards. Additionally, they develop standard work procedures and drive the standardization of work areas. • Apply and sustain 5S standards in designated areas. • Perform regular 5S audits, document results, and drive corrective actions. • Design and maintain visual controls, including labels and floor markings. • Train and mentor employees on 5S concepts and practices. • Spot and implement waste‑reduction and process‑improvement initiatives. • Generate and present 5S performance metrics to management. • Uphold safety and quality compliance during all 5S activities. • Create standard work documentation and promote area standardization.

What You Bring
Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent, with a technical certification preferred, and at least one year of experience in Lean Manufacturing or 5S. The role requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team, perform manual tasks for extended periods, and possess familiarity with continuous improvement tools such as Kaizen and TPM. Applicants must reside within a 50‑mile radius of Richmond, VA, unless they are active‑duty military; no relocation assistance is provided. • Hold at least one year of Lean Manufacturing or 5S experience. • Possess a high school diploma; technical certification is a plus. • Ability to stand, walk, and perform manual tasks for long periods. • Must be located within 50 mi of Richmond, VA (exempt for active‑duty military). • Familiarity with Kaizen, TPM, and other continuous‑improvement tools.
