About the Role

The Maintenance Utility Technician is an entry-level, hands‑on role that supports the operations and maintenance team in keeping facilities and equipment safe, efficient, and reliable. The position assists with routine maintenance, preventive tasks, and basic troubleshooting across mechanical, electrical, and building systems. It provides a foundation for growth within the facilities maintenance field. Key duties include troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on air compressors, plumbing, basic electrical, HVAC systems, roofs, drains, and grounds equipment. The technician supports installation, modification, and maintenance of building equipment, creates and manages work orders in the CMMS, and repairs building finishes such as ceiling tiles and door hardware. They inspect facilities for unsafe or malfunctioning conditions, operate fire and life safety systems, and coordinate external contractors from sourcing to completion. Prompt response to emergency calls and customer service requests is essential, as is the effective use of technology like smartphones, tablets, and building automation systems. All work is performed in compliance with codes, regulations, and company policies while maintaining a professional appearance. Work is performed in both professional office settings and industrial/warehouse environments, indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions. The role involves regular use of maintenance tools and standard office equipment, and the technician may be the only maintenance staff member on duty during certain shifts. Extended periods may be required during emergencies, including overtime and on‑call duties. • Troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on air compressors, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, roofs, drains, and grounds equipment. • Install, modify, and maintain building equipment and systems. • Create and manage work orders using a CMMS. • Repair and replace ceiling tiles, door hardware, wallpaper, and painted surfaces. • Inspect facilities for unsafe conditions and conduct reactive and preventive maintenance. • Operate fire and life safety systems, including alarms and pumps. • Coordinate and oversee external contractors from sourcing to completion. • Respond promptly to emergency calls and customer service requests. • Utilize smartphones, tablets, computers, and building automation systems for work tasks. • Follow all codes, regulations, company policies, and maintain professional appearance. • Perform physical tasks such as ladder use, lifting up to 50 lb, bending, stooping, and working in varied weather.

What You Bring

Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED and technical or on‑the‑job training in HVAC, electrical, mechanical, or plumbing trades. They should possess 1–2 years of related facility maintenance experience, a valid driver’s license with a clean record, and basic proficiency in Microsoft Office. At least one year of experience using a CMMS is also required. Physical demands include using ladders and lifting equipment to work at heights, performing year‑round outdoor work in varying weather, and communicating effectively to exchange accurate information. The job requires moving throughout the workplace, bending, stooping, kneeling, and lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 50 pounds. Operators must also be comfortable using computers and standard office equipment. • Hold a high school diploma/GED and technical training in HVAC, electrical, mechanical, or plumbing. • Possess 1–2 years facility maintenance experience and a clean driver’s license; commercial license may be needed. • Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office and at least one year of CMMS usage. • Work in both office and industrial/warehouse settings, indoors and outdoors, often alone on shift.

Compensation ranges from $19.55 to $23.00 per hour, with eligible employees receiving a comprehensive benefits package that includes health, vision, dental, flexible spending accounts, retirement plans, and life and disability insurance.
