About the Role
Key duties include developing and disseminating FAQs, fact sheets, presentations, advisories and press releases that align with branding standards, while coordinating internal and external communications across LAWA public relations, community relations, government affairs, guest experience, airport operations, external partners, and community stakeholders. The specialist will attend project meetings to translate technical or construction updates into clear public messaging, coordinate logistics for media events, press tours and milestone activities, and provide strategic communication support throughout the project lifecycle. Candidates must possess excellent written, visual and verbal communication skills, be proficient with digital platforms such as website CMS, email marketing, social media, Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite, and demonstrate the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment while engaging diverse communities and government agencies. A bachelor’s or master’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing or a related field is required, along with ten or more years of public or stakeholder communications experience, preferably on large transportation or civic projects; relevant certifications are preferred. Proficiency in Canva, Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, and email marketing platforms is essential. • Demonstrate strong written, visual, and verbal communication abilities. • Utilize website CMS, email marketing tools, social media platforms, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Creative Suite proficiently. • Apply knowledge of public project lifecycles, phasing, and communication requirements. • Exhibit meticulous organization and attention to detail.
