About the Role

The Underground Groundman is an entry‑level position focused on the construction, maintenance, and repair of electrical underground distribution systems. The role works at various locations and may require travel to another state based on customer demands. • Perform new construction, maintenance, and repair of energized and de‑energized underground work safely. • Set pad‑mount transformers and assist with single‑phase transformer installation and hook‑up. • Work around energized high‑voltage systems, observing minimum approach distances and safety protocols. • Maintain company vehicles, equipment, tools, and personal protective equipment (PPE). • Apply basic rigging, hand lines, and lineman knot tying; use Kellum grips correctly. • Identify primary, secondary, and induced voltages on circuits; check voltage on transformers. • Perform bucket rescue/escape procedures and work at heights or in confined spaces. • Execute equipment set‑up, grounding, excavation, and shoring requirements. • Climb various structures (wood, steel, etc.) and work in underground trenches and manholes. • Operate company radio and follow directions from supervisors. • Travel long distances on short notice and work overtime, weekends, or holidays as required. • Follow all company safety rules, policies, and competency standards (self‑motivated, team‑oriented, customer‑oriented).

What You Bring

• Lift over 50 lb and perform rigorous physical labor in all weather conditions. • Obtain a Commercial Driver’s License permit within 60 days of hire; CDL is preferred. • Read and communicate effectively in English.
