About the Role

• Serve as project and technical manager for stormwater planning, design, and implementation. • Lead preparation of project proposals and agreements. • Direct multidisciplinary teams to produce design and construction drawings, including cost estimates for stormwater infrastructure and green solutions. • Provide technical direction, oversight, and quality review of project deliverables per AECOM standards. • Prepare, review, and seal design documents as a licensed professional engineer in Virginia. • Deliver bid and construction phase services for diverse clients. • Organize and lead routine client communications, both in-person and virtual. • Maintain existing client relationships and contracts through successful project delivery. • Develop new client relationships and lead business development in VA, MD, and NC. • Contribute to statements of qualifications and proposals for RFQs and RFPs. • Attend and facilitate client meetings; coordinate with regulatory agencies. • Coordinate and guide AECOM project team members and subcontractors. • Represent AECOM in local and regional water resources organizations, presenting at technical conferences.

What You Bring

The position in Arlington, VA, seeks a seasoned engineer and project manager to lead water resources, stormwater, and natural resources projects for federal, state, municipal, and private clients. The role combines technical leadership, client relationship management, and mentorship of mid‑ and junior‑level staff while overseeing design, construction, and implementation phases. • Travel locally in Virginia; occasional travel outside the area as needed. • BA/BS in Civil, Environmental, or related engineering plus 8+ years relevant experience. • Professional engineering license in Virginia (or ability to obtain within 6 months). • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Bluebeam, or similar drafting software. • Valid driver’s license and pass AECOM motor vehicle records review. • U.S. citizenship required. • Experience with municipal, state, and federal stormwater programs. • 10+ years progressive engineering experience in public or private sector (preferred). • 2+ years experience as a project manager (preferred). • 2+ years leading and developing teams (preferred). • Ability to work independently delivering high‑quality deliverables on time and within budget (preferred). • Experience developing design/construction plans, specifications, and business development (preferred). • Professional engineering license in Maryland and/or North Carolina (or ability to obtain within 6 months) (preferred). • Experience with green stormwater infrastructure, nature‑based solutions, watershed modeling, and ecological restoration (preferred). • Knowledge of hydraulic analysis, drainage design, NPDES/TMDL, FEMA LOMA/LOMR/CLOMR, permitting, and funding programs (preferred).
