About the Role

The position carries responsibility for health, safety and environment compliance, ensuring all manufacturing processes meet the Zero Harm programme. You will also safeguard product safety by guaranteeing that processes achieve and sustain design intent and that supplier products conform to specifications. Quality stewardship involves fostering a zero‑defect culture, collaborating across functions to reduce risk and achieve right‑first‑time outcomes, and adhering to company, legislative and technical standards such as RRMS, SABRe, export control and intellectual property requirements. Continuous improvement duties include reviewing component manufacturing sequencing, confirming appropriate testing throughout the cycle, and driving processes toward consistent best practice together with manufacturing engineering leaders. As the technical authority for NDT, you will maintain control over NDT activities in line with procedural and customer specifications. Key duties involve writing NDT inspection instructions, declaring any process limitations, and approving NDT procedures and work instructions for technical adequacy. You will review Component Inspection Manuals and Overhaul Process Manuals for content and capability, maintain approvals for NDT inspectors—including annual appraisals, five‑year re‑approvals, performance monitoring and vision requirements per RRP58000—and conduct practical and written examinations after receiving delegation. Internal NDT audits will be performed in accordance with quality requirements such as NUCAP. • Provide technical support to NDT Level 2 technicians and operational teams. • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve NDT processes to meet SQCD objectives. • Ensure all manufacturing activities comply with HSE standards and the Zero Harm programme. • Guarantee product safety by aligning processes with design intent and supplier specifications. • Promote a zero‑defect culture and achieve right‑first‑time quality across functions. • Review and enhance component manufacturing sequencing and testing throughout the cycle. • Lead technical authority for NDT, authoring inspection instructions and approving procedures. • Oversee NDT inspector certifications, including annual appraisals and five‑year re‑approvals. • Maintain internal NDT audits in line with quality requirements such as NUCAP.

What You Bring

The role requires NDT Level 3 certification in Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection (FPI) and Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI), with Level 3 proficiency in Eddy Current Inspection mandatory. Level 3 qualification in Ultrasonic Inspection and X‑Ray Inspection are considered advantageous. A professionally qualified engineer is essential, with at least an HND/foundation degree or equivalent national qualification. Where available, recognized national or international engineering accreditation such as IEng or CEng is desirable. • Hold NDT Level 3 certification in Fluorescent Penetrant and Magnetic Particle Inspection; Eddy Current required, Ultrasonic and X‑Ray optional. • Possess a professionally qualified engineering degree and, where possible, IEng/CEng accreditation.
