About the Role
The engineer will lead cross‑functional teams in signaling and Positive Train Control (PTC) design, applying Systems Engineering concepts throughout the project life cycle—from concept development to operation and maintenance. Responsibilities include reviewing designs and specifications for compliance, supporting business development, participating in quality processes, and leading contract negotiations and client meetings. Additional duties involve providing performance guidance to staff, collaborating across disciplines as a trusted advisor, and making ethical decisions in line with WSP’s Code of Conduct. The role may also require flexibility in schedules, occasional travel, and handling other responsibilities as needed. • Lead cross‑functional teams on signaling and PTC design for multiple Northeast Corridor projects. • Apply Systems Engineering processes from concept through operation and maintenance. • Review designs, specifications, and cost estimates for compliance with standards and best practices. • Support business development, proposals, and contract negotiations. • Conduct client and internal meetings to address project challenges and achieve outcomes. • Provide performance guidance and leadership to assigned staff. • Collaborate across disciplines to deliver future‑ready rail solutions as a trusted advisor. • Adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and make ethical decisions regarding company resources. • Maintain a strong safety record and ability to travel as project needs dictate.

What You Bring
Required qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, more than ten years of experience with signaling and PTC systems on Amtrak or Northeast Corridor railroads, and an Engineer license (or ability to obtain one within six months). Candidates must possess advanced written and interpersonal communication skills, strong systems‑engineering proficiency, critical thinking abilities, and a proven safety record. Preferred qualifications are a Master’s degree in engineering, 40‑hour OSHA HAZWOPER training, and basic First Aid/CPR certification. • Hold a BS in engineering (or higher) with 10+ years of signaling/PTC experience. • Possess an active Engineer license (or obtain within six months) and strong communication skills. • Demonstrate proficiency in systems engineering principles and critical document review. • Preferred: Master’s degree, OSHA HAZWOPER certification, First Aid/CPR training.
