About the Role

The Design Engineer – Transmission Line at QISG contributes to the safe, reliable and efficient delivery of power by designing, building, maintaining and upgrading high‑voltage transmission infrastructure. The team works on new construction, line upgrades and critical maintenance, applying traditional methods and the latest industry innovations to deliver sustainable, cost‑effective solutions. The engineer will lead all overhead transmission line design activities, including PLS‑CADD modeling, line routing, structure analysis, sag‑tension calculations and related calculations such as voltage drop and pole loading. They will produce scaled drawings using AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS and ensure engineering redlines are accurate before final drafting. The role includes preparing joint utility use authorizations, ensuring compliance with codes (NESC, IEEE, ANSI, IBC) and conducting quality reviews. Collaboration with project teams to develop solutions, maintain documentation, and support calculations is required, with a typical 40‑hour work week and occasional overtime. • Lead overhead transmission line design using PLS‑CADD, perform routing, structure analysis, sag‑tension and loading calculations. • Create scaled drawings and maps in AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS and apply precise engineering redlines. • Conduct voltage‑drop, cable pulling, flicker and pole‑loading analyses and prepare joint utility use authorizations. • Verify compliance with NESC, IEEE, ANSI, IBC standards and perform quality reviews. • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, maintain project documentation and support calculations.
