About the Role

What You Bring
Downer is celebrating a major milestone with the award of the Property and Asset Services contract to provide base and estate services across NSW/ACT and Queensland, reinforcing its 80‑year partnership with the Australian Defence Force. We are now hiring for a permanent Leading Hand – Land Management position at RAAF Base Townsville, with a start date in February 2026. The role is open to candidates from all backgrounds, whether they have defence experience, industry knowledge, or transferable skills. Candidates should have grounds maintenance experience and horticulture expertise, with a Certificate III/IV in Horticulture or a Diploma in Landscape Management regarded as desirable. An Australian citizenship, the ability to obtain a Defence Security Clearance, and a current open driver’s licence are mandatory. • Hold (or obtain) a Defence Security Clearance; Australian citizenship is required. • Maintain a current open driver’s licence. • Certificate III/IV in Horticulture (desirable). • Diploma in Landscape Management (desirable). • Demonstrated grounds maintenance experience and horticulture expertise.
