About the Role

The position offers flexibility to work remotely or from any of AECOM’s Energy offices across the United States. The primary location is Denver, Colorado, and the role is classified as a supervisory/technical specialist responsible for planning, organizing, and guiding junior staff. • Develop detailed cost estimates for civil, structural, and mechanical components, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted work. • Prepare indirect cost estimates such as general conditions, management staff, temporary facilities, equipment, markups, and contingencies. • Analyze drawings, specifications, and site data to assess constructability and cost impacts. • Identify and measure estimating processes that may affect project outcomes. • Support budgets, value‑engineering options, and alternative construction approaches. • Produce quantity takeoffs using industry‑standard software. • Determine crew build‑ups and production rates. • Solicit, evaluate, and level vendor and subcontractor quotations. • Create Work Breakdown Structures and manage estimate preparation and reviews. • Collaborate with project management, engineering, and procurement to ensure estimate accuracy. • Develop Estimate Plan, Basis of Estimate, and qualifications documentation. • Prepare bid tabulations responding to RFP requirements. • Collect, analyze, and archive project data for historical documentation and benchmark comparisons. • Supervise junior staff, set goals, and document performance.

What You Bring

• BA/BS in engineering or construction (ABET accredited) with 8+ years experience or equivalent. • Proven estimating experience; US citizenship required. • 7–10 years estimating in industrial, heavy civil, or large‑scale commercial construction. • Experience estimating civil (earthwork, foundations, utilities), structural (steel, concrete), and mechanical (process piping, equipment) scopes. • Proficiency with estimating software such as Trimble WinEstimator, ACCE, Bluebeam, HeavyBid, Sage, or On‑Screen Takeoff. • Background in manufacturing, energy, mining, oil & gas, or infrastructure sectors. • Strong understanding of construction methods, cost drivers, and labor productivity. • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, and structural plans. • Familiarity with project controls, scheduling, and Work Breakdown Structures. • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
