About the Role
The Senior Estimator will lead estimating efforts on large, complex projects, delivering conceptual and detailed self‑perform estimates and cost models. Responsibilities include organizing research, pricing, scheduling and submission; selecting subcontractors, assigning work to the estimating team, conducting quantity surveys, reviewing subcontractor proposals, researching tax laws and permits, writing RFIs, and maintaining regular communication with owners, architects, engineers and team members to ensure clear scope understanding. • Lead estimating on large, complex projects. • Produce conceptual and detailed self‑perform estimates and cost models. • Organize research, pricing, scheduling and submission of estimates. • Select subcontractors and manage the bidding process. • Assign work to the estimating team and ensure data accuracy. • Conduct quantity take‑offs, cost estimates, and review subcontractor proposals. • Research tax laws, collective bargaining agreements, and permits. • Prepare and submit Requests for Information (RFIs). • Communicate regularly with owners, architects, engineers, and team members. • Ensure clear project scope understanding across all parties. • Analyze historical project data for current applications. • Assist in selecting building systems, software, and project scheduling. • Lead, train, mentor and evaluate estimators.

What You Bring
Mortenson is currently seeking an experienced Senior Estimator who can interact with staff at all levels in a dynamic environment. The role requires flexibility, resourcefulness, proactivity, efficiency, professionalism and confidentiality while providing leadership, coordination, and final preparation of full estimates on large and complex projects. Candidates must hold an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience), possess at least nine years of construction industry experience with six years in estimating, and preferably have LEED AP or DBIA credentials. The role demands strong organization, attention to detail, knowledge of construction law and business practices, advanced mathematical ability, proficiency with estimating software such as ISqFt, ICE/Bid2Win, OST, Bluebeam and Google Earth, and excellent leadership, communication, problem‑solving and customer‑service skills, along with a valid driver’s license. • Hold an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience). • Minimum nine years of construction industry experience, including six years of estimating. • LEED AP or DBIA certification preferred. • Strong knowledge of construction law, tax regulations and collective bargaining. • Proficiency with estimating software: ISqFt, ICE/Bid2Win, OST, Bluebeam, Google Earth. • Excellent communication, leadership, problem‑solving and customer‑service skills. • Valid driver’s license and applicable mathematical skills.

Benefits
Compensation ranges from $128,200 to $192,300, with higher ranges for select locations, and includes eligibility for Mortenson’s incentive plan.
