About the Role
Under general direction, the Billing Specialist performs routine and complex billing functions to prepare accurate and timely invoices for customers according to service contract terms. The role manages accounts with intricate billing arrangements driven by contractual or statutory requirements. The specialist follows standard operating procedures to prepare monthly billing adjustments, obtain approvals, and enter them into the billing system. They research and resolve billing questions, review invoices for completeness, calculate manual billings for non‑routine cases, and post payments and receipts to customer accounts. The role also provides guidance and training to less‑experienced personnel and performs other assigned duties. • Prepare monthly billing adjustments and obtain required approvals. • Enter billing adjustments into the billing system following SOPs. • Research and resolve routine and non‑routine billing questions and discrepancies. • Review invoices for completeness and accuracy, contacting customers or staff as needed. • Calculate and prepare manual billings for complex, non‑routine arrangements. • Gather and summarize supplemental billing information to meet customer requirements. • Review billing system reports to identify and correct discrepancies. • Post case receipts and payments to customer accounts based on lockbox reports. • Process credit‑card payments over the phone and set up recurring payments. • Complete customer setup in company billing systems. • Provide training and support to less‑experienced personnel within the division.

What You Bring
Candidates must have at least 18 months of billing experience in a service‑based environment, a high school diploma or GED, and solid math skills. Required competencies include intermediate MS Excel ability, thorough knowledge of billing transactions, adherence to SOPs, professional communication with managers and customers, and initiative to investigate non‑standard situations. • Demonstrated experience in a billing function within a service‑based industry. • Thorough knowledge of billing transactions and processes. • Intermediate Microsoft Excel proficiency. • Ability to follow standard operating procedures and meet deadlines accurately. • Strong professional communication skills with managers and customers. • Initiative to research and resolve non‑standard billing situations. • Good math aptitude and accuracy with numbers.
