About the Role
Key responsibilities include selecting equipment, planning layouts, applying knowledge of geometry and metal properties, and performing layout, positioning, cutting, assembly, and fitting of metal components in diverse orientations. The welder will secure parts with bolts, clamps, and tack‑welds, set up and operate various welding equipment, and apply appropriate procedures to join metal to piping systems while identifying equipment needs and safety risks. • Weld, fabricate, and assist pipe fitters installing industrial pipe systems. • Perform welding in 2G, 4G, and 6G positions using stick and TIG processes. • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical manuals. • Apply knowledge of metal characteristics and proper welding procedures for carbon steel, stainless, and chrome. • Identify equipment, layout plans, and safety risks before commencing work. • Set up and operate arc, gas‑shielded, submerged arc, and arc‑gas welding equipment. • Secure workpieces with bolts, clamps, and tack welds. • Assist pipe fitters with pipe installation, preparation, and fabrication. • Adhere to PPE requirements and safety standards at all times. • Provide required tools (metal toolbox, stinger, TIG rig, welding hood, etc.) at start date.

What You Bring
ZACHRY is currently seeking an experienced Industrial Combination Welder for EXXON MOBIL Beaumont in Beaumont, Texas, with no per diem offered. The role involves welding, fabricating, and assisting pipe fitters in installing various types of industrial pipe into project piping systems. Candidates must be able to weld in 2G, 4G, and 6G positions, perform stick and TIG welding on pipe, hold a current Zachry welding certification or pass a weld test, and possess at least four years of welding experience. They must also meet all physical requirements and have the specified tools available on the start date. Required qualifications encompass reading and interpreting blueprints and engineering drawings, a minimum of four years’ experience welding industrial‑size pipe (40", 80", and 160"), thorough knowledge of metal characteristics and suitable welding processes, and experience with carbon steel, stainless, and chrome pipes. Additional expectations are reliable transportation, ability to work at heights, and compliance with all physical demands. Preferred candidates are current or former Zachry employees with prior experience in industrial pipe fitting, combined‑cycle power plant construction, and holding a Zachry certification. This position reports to a supervisor and has no direct reports. Physical demands include prolonged standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 50 lb, working at slight heights, and performing tasks in various weather conditions while wearing required personal protective equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators, safety vests, gloves, and leather work boots. The required tools list includes a metal toolbox with lock, stinger, TIG rig (for combo welders), welding hood, chipping hammer, Klein pliers, crescent wrenches, tape, file, beater, torpedo level, combination square, welding gloves, leather overhead welding gear, rain coat, and rubber boots. • Maintain current Zachry welding certification or pass a weld test. • Minimum 4 years experience welding industrial‑size pipe (40", 80", 160"). • Lift/move up to 50 lb, work at heights, and stand for extended periods. • Possess reliable transportation and ability to work in varied weather conditions.
