About the Role

Key responsibilities include overseeing the end‑to‑end development, deployment, and evaluation of analytics solutions, establishing a framework that separates data science from data engineering tasks, and coordinating compute and storage resources for large‑scale model training. The lead will implement sprint‑based Agile methods, provide Rough Order of Magnitude estimates for each project, and conduct quarterly reviews to ensure cost efficiency and performance optimization. • Lead development, deployment, and evaluation of predictive and prescriptive analytics aligned with mission goals. • Define and separate data science and data engineering tasks to ensure effective resource allocation. • Document model progress, validate algorithms, and integrate solutions into mission operations. • Implement sprint‑based Agile methodology, managing backlogs and ensuring rapid delivery cycles. • Provide Rough Order of Magnitude estimates for project hours, compute, storage, and infrastructure needs. • Conduct quarterly reviews to assess cost efficiency, system performance, and workflow optimization.

What You Bring

NV5 Geospatial is recruiting a Data Science Lead to drive predictive and prescriptive analytics aligned with mission objectives. The role is based onsite at US Army Garrison Miami/SOUTHCOM, requires US citizenship, and an active TS/SCI clearance. Candidates must have a master’s degree in Data Science, AI, Computer Science, or equivalent experience (11+ years) leading AI/ML analytics programs. Required experience includes enterprise‑level predictive analytics, mission‑focused decision support, Agile cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Databricks), and advanced ML techniques. Strong leadership, strategic planning, and stakeholder engagement skills are essential, with preferred certifications and language abilities noted. • Secure compute and storage resources, including GPU‑accelerated environments and high‑performance storage, for large‑scale training. • Hold a master’s degree in Data Science, AI, Computer Science, or 11+ years equivalent leadership experience. • Demonstrated success delivering enterprise‑level predictive analytics with governance compliance. • Experience with mission‑focused analytics, statistical and machine‑learning decision‑support techniques. • Proven ability to manage Agile sprints in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Databricks) and coordinate data science and engineering teams. • Expertise in advanced ML methods, feature engineering, model validation, and data provenance tracking. • Strong leadership, strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and complex project prioritization skills. • Preferred certifications: AWS Machine Learning Specialty, Microsoft AI Engineer Associate, or Certified Analytics Professional; fluency in Portuguese or Spanish; experience with government IT programs. • Active TS/SCI clearance required.
