About the Role
The Health & Safety Advisor, Operations will work hands-on at one of the company’s sites, partnering with plant leadership, employees and contractors to foster a strong safety culture. This business-partner role emphasizes coaching, support and practical solutions rather than policing, and it plays a key part in developing site-level procedures and strengthening safety programs as the business expands. Key duties include maintaining a visible safety presence, conducting regular inspections and audits, and performing spot checks of powered industrial equipment and personal protective equipment. The advisor will also develop and maintain job hazard assessments, safe operating procedures, lockout/tagout programs, safety data sheets and other documentation, while managing PPE inventory and delivering safety training to new hires and contractors. Additional responsibilities involve co-chairing the Joint Health & Safety Committee, leading incident and near-miss investigations, coordinating emergency drills, and ensuring compliance with provincial and federal health-and-safety legislation. • Maintain on-site safety presence; conduct inspections, walkthroughs, and PIE/PPE spot checks. • Develop and update JHAs, SOPs, LOTO programs, and maintain SDS and safety manuals. • Manage PPE inventory and coordinate new-hire orientations, contractor onboarding, and safety training. • Co-chair Joint Health & Safety Committee meetings and coach leaders on safe work practices. • Lead incident and near-miss investigations, root-cause analysis, and support injury claim management. • Ensure compliance with provincial and federal health-and-safety legislation and drive continuous improvement. • Provide RRSP with 150% match, company share purchase match, and career advancement opportunities.

What You Bring
Candidates should have post-secondary education in health and safety or equivalent experience, with a CRSP, CHSC or similar designation preferred, and hold a valid driver’s licence. A minimum of three to five years of safety experience in an industrial, manufacturing or construction environment is required, with union-experience considered an asset. Required competencies include strong knowledge of occupational health legislation, hazard identification, risk assessment, incident investigation, effective communication, coaching and proficiency in Microsoft Excel. • Hold post-secondary health-and-safety education; CRSP/CHSC designation preferred; valid driver’s license. • 3–5 years experience in industrial/manufacturing or construction safety; union environment experience a plus. • Strong hazard identification, risk assessment, incident investigation, communication and coaching skills. • Proficient in Microsoft Excel; familiar with safety management systems; organized and detail-oriented.
